This hour-long session provides a hands-on introduction to the Foundation Center’s web subscription database, The Foundation Directory Online Professional. In this program, you will learn how to create customized searches to develop targeted lists of foundations that will match your organization’s funding needs and search grants made by top funders.

Proposal Writing Basics - 2010

This program is an introductory overview of the proposal writing process. It will provide the basics of writing a proposal for your nonprofit organization, designed for new proposal writers or for those requiring a refresher. Covered will be the key components of a proposal and signing and packaging the proposal. Suggestions on contacting the funder if turned down are provided. Also included is information on finding more information on proposal writing, including sample proposals.

An hour long, hands on class on obtaining financial support for your studies. A demonstration on the use of Foundation Grants to Individuals Online will show you how to quickly search through detailed descriptions of more than 6,000 foundation programs that fund students, artists, researchers and other individual grantseekers. You’ll learn to find accurate, up-to-date information on foundations that fund: educational support scholarships, fellowships, loans, internships, students and graduates of specific schools, arts and cultural support, awards, prizes and grants by nomination, international applicants, employees/families of employees at specific companies, research and professional support and general welfare and special needs.

Intended for representatives of nonprofit organizations engaged in fundraising, this new class will give you a basic overview of what you can do to survive and succeed in sustaining your nonprofit during the current economic crisis. We’ll cover what you can do to ensure your organization is positioned to weather the current economic situation. We’ll talk about how to adapt your fundraising strategy in the current economy. Included will be links and resources to help you determine approaches that best fit with your nonprofit’s situation.

If your organization has never developed a fundraising plan or calendar, this hour-long session is for you. The program will show you how to analyze your own organization’s situation and develop a fundraising plan. You’ll learn how to conduct an assets inventory, develop a case statement, identify fundraising partners and prepare a fundraising plan and calendar.
