Members of SCORE will address key topics for those considering beginning a business: business and marketing plans, finances, and technology for business. A librarian from Main Library’s Information Services department will discuss the Library’s sources and services for business start-up and beyond.

The Library subscribes to online databases that provide marketing, demographic, and contact information for your business needs. This program features demonstrations of the following databases: D&B Million Dollar Database, DemographicsNow Library Edition, and ReferenceUSA (Business, HealthCare, New Businesses, and Residential modules). All are available via home/remote access from the Library’s website. The program also provides a hands-on segment.

Although business plans are created in order to obtain funding for a business, more and more businesses are developing business plans for refocusing their business’s development and mission. Learn about writing and revising a business plan for your new or established business with a member of SCORE, Counselors to America’s Small Business. Join Valerie Harrell, Coordinator in the Community Education and Engagement Department of the Office of Ohio Treasurer of State Kevin L. Boyce, for a program on the basics of investing. Learn about different types of investments and basic terminology as well as how to develop investment goals, understand risk tolerance, and avoid investment schemes.
