Publisher’s Weekly called her the “medical suspense queen.” The Philadelphia Inquirer called her books “pulse-pounding fun.” And she is coming to Main Library on October 13. She is internationally best-selling author Tess Gerritsen, creator of the “Rizzoli & Isles” novels which inspired the popular TV series.
Ms. Gerritsen will be at the Main Library, 305 Wick Ave., beginning at 6 p.m., for the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County’s 8th Literary Society Author Event.
Tickets to this fundraising event are $55 and include a copy of the author’s newest release, “The Silent Girl,” another in the series featuring Jane Rizzoli, homicide detective, and Maura Isles, medical examiner. The popular TNT television series stars Angie Harmon as Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander as Isles.
The evening will begin with an author’s reception and cocktails from 6-7 p.m., followed by dinner. The author’s presentation will begin just after 8 p.m. and immediately after, Ms. Gerritsen will be available to sign books.

The Library’s Literary Society was launched in 2005, the Library’s 125th anniversary year. The Literary Society is comprised of generous individuals who care deeply about the Library and would like to bring to our community special programs, including noted authors, to celebrate reading and literacy.
The Literary Society’s first author event, in October 2005, featured Mary Doria Russell, who discussed her Pulitzer Prize nominated historical novel, “A Thread of Grace,” and the journey of creating it. Each year, the Literary Society features noted authors such as: award-winning crime novelist Laura Lippman, Cleveland’s famous mystery author Les Roberts, Scott London -internationally known journalist and photographer, and New York Times Best-Selling Authors Adriana Trigiani and Lisa Scottoline.
